Creative Media production

Curriculum Intent

The media department at Bishop Stopford’s School are committed to developing creative perspectives where students are able to explore the world in which they live. Through our choice of inclusive media texts, we enable our students to develop the skills necessary to respond analytically to the media world. We build leadership, team cooperation and resilience giving learners transferable life skills.

Student Learning Journey

At KS4, students will investigate media products, reimagine and recreate a media product and create a media product in response to a brief.

Year 10 students focus on investigating media products through research and workshops. Students will also use prior learning from their research to re imagine a media product and create a finished product through pre-production, production and post production workshops.

Year 11 students focus on creating a media product in response to a brief calling upon prior knowledge from Y10 with the pre-production, production and post production of the product.

How is Creative Media taught?

Lessons start with a retrieval activity (theory based) designed to recall prior learning of key concepts. The learning within the lesson is progressive, enabling students to develop and practice pre-production, production and post production skills via independent and student lead group work.

Home learning

Students use home learning to consolidate theory work and research current media products in order to generate ideas.
