A Bishop Stopford's  alumni student currently at The University of Cambridge came back with members of the university's African Caribbean Society to encourage more of our students to apply to Cambridge for their degrees.

The ACS members gave an inspirational assembly about belonging and fear - factors that deter some students from minority backgrounds from applying to Russell group universities.

"If  Black students from The University of Cambridge had come to my school when I was younger, I definitely would have applied" said a teaching assistant at Bishop Stopford's who admitted not applying to the prestigious university despite having the grades, because of the common perception of Oxbridge not having a strong ACS. "I didn't think there would be anyone I could mix with".

Student diversity ambassadors from Bishop's had the pleasure of interviewing the ACS members.
