Dear families
I am writing to confirm that Bishop Stopford’s School will be closed on Monday 19 September 2022. This has been announced as a bank holiday for the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Our thoughts remain with King Charles III and the Royal family, and we echo his own prayer for the guidance and help of Almighty God as he strives to follow the example of humble service set by his mother. The news will resonate differently in different communities, and we are conscious of our children’s own experiences of death and bereavement.
We will continue to provide access to resources on our website and through our pastoral programmes and assemblies. We hope that these will be helpful in the coming days.
I also wanted to add a gentle reminder that during this period of national mourning, we will expect your child to attend school as normal (other than on the bank holiday on Monday 19 September 2022).
If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please follow our normal procedures for notifying the school of their absence. As you will be aware 100% attendance is a significant factor contributing to positive student achievement.
