The original buildings of the School date back to the 1960s but have since been extensively modernised and we completed a £10 million new build project in 2009 that increased the size of the School and our range of facilities extensively. We now offer a large campus which includes classrooms, all of which are equipped with interactive whiteboards, 7 dedicated ICT suites, separate Science and Technology blocks, extensive sports facilities, an Assembly Hall, Chapel and a new dining room.
The whole school is networked for ICT and students have open access to computers, the school Intranet and Internet. We have 7 ICT suites as well as 2 Study Rooms in the Sixth Form. All suites are air conditioned. Additionally, we have laptop trolleys with wireless access in many of the rooms. One of the suites is a specialist Music Technology Room containing the latest Apple Mac computers where students are able to produce their own music.
Science and Technology
The Science Block contains 12 teaching labs offering modern equipment for Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The Design and Technology Department
Situated in a new, purpose-built building.
We have a large sports field for football, rugby, hockey in the winter and cricket and athletics in the Summer. We also have 3 outdoor tennis courts and a large sports hall. There is a separate gymnasium and a dedicated weights room containing multigym equipment.
Our modern dining hall serves hot and cold food at break and lunch times.
Hall and Chapel
The assembly hall is used for School productions and events and uniquely we are very lucky to have a large pipe organ that was recovered from a church in Morecambe and used for recitals. Our chapel has recently been renovated and we are very grateful to the Greig Trusts for their generosity in supporting the recent renovations of the hall and chapel.
