End of term Letter from Headteacher, Mrs T. Day

13Dear Families,

As the term draws to a close, I would like to thank you for your support in all the work the school has done with our students since September. The Year 11 pupils are about to undertake their mock exams and our Year 7s are now very much part of the Stopfordian Family.

This year sees the launch of the School’s first Christmas Fete on the 9th December. This event is being run and organised by our Sixth Form students on behalf of the homeless charity Crisis. Students, parents, family and friends are welcome to attend this event from 3.30pm-7pm. As a result, the inset day planned for Friday, 9th of December, will be moved to Monday, 12th December. The School will therefore be closed to students on this day.

GCSE Exam Results 2016

20160825_093800Students at Bishop Stopford’s School make good progress under new government measures. Congratulations to all the students who have just received their exam results. Mrs Day would like to thank the students, parents and teachers who have all worked very hard in delivering these results. The students were committed and focused throughout the exam period and this has paid off with terrific outcomes with some of our best students getting A*/A grades across the board.

We look forward to this year and the exciting new specifications for many A level and GCSE courses. No doubt our students will once again commit to their studies with enthusiasm and determination and far exceed every expectation.

Sixth Form are launching a book club !

PrintDear colleagues,

The Sixth Form are launching a book club to which staff are invited.

The first book will be ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak. If you’d like to take part please read the book and we will have a discussion group in the new library 4 weeks into the next half term – around about 25th November. Please let me know if you are taking part so that I have an idea of numbers.

Many thanks, Rob Smith.
