School Online Safety Alert

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have been is communication with the Metropolitan Police who would like all schools to help make parents and carers aware of a new app known as ‘YUBO’ which is causing a lot of safeguarding concerns at the moment in the public domain, and has raised media attention.

The app “YUBO” formally known as “Yellow” is being touted as a dating app for under 18s referred to as “Tinder for Teens”. It heavily promotes live streaming as the primary chat method and allows chat groups to be set up with no filter on content or topics along with features very akin to apps like “Tinder” such as swiping left/right on profiles for people in your area.
There have been reports of sexual offences after meetings arranged through this app and media outlets such as The Sun have highlighted the safeguarding concerns being raised

Please can you be alert to this app and the potential for your child or children to be accessing it. Please also note that there are various ways to report online abuse and receive excellent advice and guidance – in particular CEOP and the NSPCC:
