Tuesday 9th June  !!!

We are very excited to announce that we are organising a five day residential trip at the Kingswood Centre, Grosvenor Hall, Ashford, Kent in October 2015. We are very fortunate to have secured a booking as it is an extremely popular venue with school groups.

For parents who are new to Kingswood, they are a leading residential activity centre provider, responsible for delivering safe and rewarding educational programmes to over 130,000 children every year. By combining many National Curriculum-linked modules with thrilling outdoor and indoor adventure activities, this trip is sure to provide your child with a wealth of new experiences outside of the classroom.

Residential courses organised by the School are, of course, an optional but invaluable part of the National Curriculum. Students benefit hugely from the experience, both educationally and socially and I feel certain that the Adventure Choice programme which we have chosen this year will prove to be both enjoyable and very worthwhile.

Often it can be difficult for young people to integrate into a new class or year group, or to make friends when they move from a smaller primary school into a larger, more formal secondary school environment. Transition helps to combat this problem by familiarising young people with others within their peer group, encouraging lively interaction and helping a group to bond. These sessions can help to accelerate the ‘settling in’ period when starting a new school and, in turn, lead to a marked improvement in academic achievements. Transition can also help year groups to gain self-confidence, improve communication and develop key team building skills.

We would like to offer this opportunity to students from the new Year 7 intake. The trip will take place from Monday 12th October 2015 to Friday 16th October 2015.

The cost of the trip is £220 and includes all meals, travel, accommodation, bedding, specialist equipment, and a full programme of day and evening activities. A non-refundable deposit of £60 is required by Tuesday 2nd June 2015. The second payment of £60 will be due by Friday 3rd July 2015. The final payment of £100 will be due by 4th September 2015.

The contributions are as follows:

Cost:          £220

Deposit: £60.00 (non refundable) by Tuesday 9th June 2015

Second Payment: £60.00 (non refundable) by Friday 3rd July 2015

Final Payment: £100.00 (non refundable) by Friday 4th September 2015

It is the policy of the Governors of Bishop Stopford’s School state that no student should be disadvantaged through financial hardship. Families who find themselves in this situation should contact Mrs D Hegley bursary@bishopstopfords.enfield.sch.uk for further information by 2nd June 2015. All information will be held in the strictest of confidence.

Please note that insufficient voluntary contributions will mean that the trip will be unable to proceed.

For your child’s safety, cheques are the preferred method of payment. All cheques should be made payable to BSSFF, with the students name, and ‘Kingwood Centre’ on the reverse of the cheque. The first payment must be accompanied with the following forms:

*Consent and Payment Form for an Educational Trip

*Personal Information and Medical Consent Form

*Behaviour Consent Form

The trip must be paid in full by Friday 4th September 2015. Non payment may result in the student not being able to attend the trip.

We will be arranging a parents evening closer to the trip to present to you in more detail the exciting range of activities available at our destination of choice. In the meantime if you wish to find out more about the ethos of Kingswood, their programmes and safety information, please visit www.kingswood.co.uk.
