Last week students in the lower sixth visited Brunel University in London. The trip was planned to help the students explore the biomedical science prospects available to us in higher Education and to get a glimpse of university life.
First we visited the lab where we were given a presentation on undergraduate options at Brunel. This was followed by a session in the lab where we extracted DNA from our cheek cells and placed it in vials to take home.
We ended our trip with a tour of the university, viewing the halls, library and the gym that Usian Bolt used during the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was an interesting experience and I can now show anyone who is interested – my DNA.
