Service in the Community

There are many opportunities for the students to take part in voluntary work.

Within the school community, sixth form students are given many opportunities to become involved. These include tutoring younger students, assisiting teachers, coaching sports teams and arranging charitable events. .  Some sixth form students help with Open Evenings, Parent’s Evenings and other special events that happen here at Bishop Stopford’s School. Many sixth form are also Peer Mentors.

The ‘Youth Action Volunteering Enfield’ scheme is also offered to the students.  This involves them volunteering within the local community for a minimum of 15 hours.  The scheme offers many diverse opportunities from helping with the Elderly to helping at local After School Clubs to working with animals at Trent Park!

At both local and national levels various charities are supported.  The students organise and carry out various events to support these such as our own Hillcrest Charity in South Africa.  Watch out for the Sixth Formers and their Rag Week fundraising in September.
