International Women’s Day – Teachers charity netball match

167On Tuesday 8th March it was International Women’s Day and to celebrate Bishop Stopford’s teamed up with the ‘Sports Relief’ charity for a netball match. After the school pupils and staff packed into the sports hall for a netball match between two staff teams. There were many phenomenal performances by the female staff and a few ‘additional male netballers’. It was great to see the teachers in action. The winning team was Team Ince, managed by Mrs Ince who beat Miss Holland’s team 9-8.   By Rachael Chyke 7P

“Great fun had by all @bishopstopfords for #internationalwomensday raising £50 for @sportrelief playing a staff netball @thisgirlcan”

Before the match we had some great entrances by the staff involved. Mr Whorms, Mr Siaw and Ms Smith getting the loudest applause from the audience! All students watching were cheering on for the team they want to win either Team Holland or Team Ince.

The match was tight with each quarter ending on a tie, 3-3, 4-4, 7-7. The final quarter was the most intense, all staff showing their true colours and how much they wanted to win. But it was a final push by Team Ince that managed to surge them in front to win 9-8.

Congratulations to all taking part, supporting and promoting the event  to raise awareness for International Women’s Day and Sport Relief!
