Bishop Stopford’s School is celebrating a year of outstanding A Level results. Charlie Greensmith, head boy, is one of those celebrating. He achieved one A* grade and 2 grade As and is off to Plymouth University to study Dentistry. Tunde Ayoola, Deputy Head boy, achieved 3 grade As. He has been offered a place at Birmingham University to study Chemical Engineering with an integrated Masters. Tunde said that “despite set-backs at times, I’ve enjoyed every step of my journey at Bishop stopford’s and any difficulties I’ve had have just made these results even sweeter” The school has also seen 12 students gain places in top Russell Group universities to study courses as diverse as English with American Studies, Chemical engineering and Podiatry.
Ben Siaw, Deputy Head and Director of sixth form studies said, “We have some outstandingly able students in our Sixth form and it’s good to see them fulfilling their potential. 90% of this year’s students achieved their choice of university without going through clearing and that’s one of the ways I measure our success. I say well done to the whole Sixth Form team and to the students who worked so hard.”
Among a number of very happy students today was Mert Ruso who has secured a place at Kings College, London to study Computer Science. While he was at school collecting his results his Dad phoned to tell him about his offer. Mert said “my Dad sounded a bit tearful as he told me over the phone.”
Bishop Stopford’s headteacher, Paul Woods, said, “We continue to see great improvements in results. It has come from incredible commitment and hard work by staff and students and I congratulate them all. It was great to see so many delighted students and parents on results day. “
