Letter from Headteacher

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Christmas is always an exciting time of year when the school and community come together to celebrate and rejoice. The school has a whole host of events listed below and we look forward to sharing them with you and our Bishop Stopford’s family.

On Thursday 6th December the school will be holding its annual Christmas Fayre in the school hall. This will commence at 2.30pm and go on until 5pm. Parents and pupils are all welcome to attend. The school will be closed on Friday 7th December for staff training.
The School Community Carol Service will be held on Thursday 13th December 2018 in the school. This celebration of Christmas will feature the school choir, worship group, primary school performances, traditional music and readings. All parents and friends are welcome to attend this event.

The Carol service is a compulsory event for all Year 7 students and they will stay at school on Thursday 13th December until 6.00pm. All students will take part in a Christmas celebration from 3.15pm until the service starts at 5.00pm, followed by a Christmas Art Exhibition and refreshments. Students will be dismissed at 6pm, but will have the option to attend the Art Exhibition refreshments until 7pm. In the final week of this term there will be Christmas Eucharist for all year groups. Eucharist will take place on the
following dates for the identified year groups:-

Tuesday 18th December Christmas Eucharist in School for Year 7 and 8 pupils
This service starts at 8.35am. All Year 7 and Year 8 pupils need to be lined up and in school by 8.30. All Pupils from Year 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 need to arrive at school for 9.30am.
Wednesday 19th December Christmas Eucharist in School for all Year 9 and Year 10 pupils
This service starts at 8.35am. All Year 9 and Year 10 pupils need to be lined up and in school by 8.30.All Pupils from Year 7, 8, 11, 12 and 13 need to arrive at school for 9.30am.
Thursday 20th December Christmas Eucharist in School for all Year 11, 12 and Year 13 pupils This service starts at 8.35am. All Year 11, 12 and Year 13 pupils need to be lined up and in school by 8.30.All Pupils from Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 need to arrive at school for 9.30am.

If any pupils are not in school by their allotted time they will be sanctioned according to the school’s behaviour policy.

On Tuesday 18th December the school canteen will be serving Christmas lunch for the pupils. This is always extremely popular. Please can you make sure your child has enough credit on their accounts so they can part take and enjoy this meal.

School will be closing for the Christmas break on Friday 21st December 2018, with all pupils being dismissed by 12.20pm.

As a reminder, students will return to school after the Christmas break on Monday 7th January at the slightly later time of 9.30am. This is due to the usual start of term staff training that will be taking place on that morning.
